Setting Proper Expectations

People within their first year in network marketing often come into the business with high hopes. They dream of huge residual income checks, product sales through the roof, and tons of company recognition.

These are all very lofty goals and network marketers should never be discouraged or give up on achieving them. However, it's very important that you approach the first year in network marketing with proper expectations in order to prevent yourself from getting burnt out or giving up.

Network Marketers typically tend to stay away from the doom and gloom of the nightly news but one can't always help but hear about how "poor" the economy is doing.

Not to mention the majority of people still working either don’t enjoy their jobs or they have taken their earning power as high as it can go. They will indefinitely be looking for alternatives to the corporate world to build their wealth.

You are poised to succeed your first year in network marketing. It's important that you go about building your MLM the “smart” way (we’ll get more into what this is) though and do your best to really develop a passion for marketing and business.

Any business whether offline or online, needs sales to function and grow. Network marketing is no different. MLM Business owners need income to grow their business just like anyone else. This can take the form of online sales, product sales, or even consulting sales.

The idea is to generate as many sales as possible.

So where should you spend your valuable time your first year in network marketing?

You want to learn, and eventually master, the art of mlm marketing.

Marketing is any method of communication or interaction with your potential customer(s).

This can take many forms.

If you choose to market online, (which you should) your marketing mediums will be in the style of a blog, video, podcast, article, etc. These are all different ways of distributing information to people.

Master the art of setting up marketing systems that educate people and move them closer to the sales process. This is your best use of time your first year in network marketing.

The Most Important Piece to the MLM Puzzle

You are the most important piece to the puzzle.

Let me explain:

Network marketing has always been about duplication. The idea being, if something works, teach your downline members to duplicate it...and they in turn teach their downline members to duplicate it... and so on and so forth.

This works wonders for companies because virtually anyone can join a company, plug into the existing system, and have probable, predictable results quickly.

However, network marketers are self-employed. We are entrepreneurs in the truest sense of the word. We have to find ways to stand out from all the other "make-money-from-home" opportunities out there. The best way I know of to do this is to work on differentiating (or branding) yourself from the crowd.

Network marketing companies, home business', and online systems are a dime a dozen nowadays but there's only one of YOU. You are the most important piece to the puzzle. In addition to developing your marketing and persuasion skills your first year, invest in yourself. Learn how to market yourself and what you have to offer people.

Learn to Manage Your Business and Family Your First Year Network Marketing

This is no easy task but can be accomplished. You are going to have to sacrifice some things to free up your extra time. It's also very important to be open and honest with your spouse and family. Tell them what you plan on doing and be sincere when asking for their support.

Let them know you will need some quiet time (how much is up to you but I recommend at least 15 hours per week) to work on your business. Express your reasons why you want to do what you're doing. More than likely you will gain the support of your family and spouse

When you are working on your business, make sure you use that time as effectively as possible. No checking email, no youtube, and even cut out television if you're limited on time. Your main focus should be spent on studying attraction marketing and creating content.

Here are some more tips to boost your productivity while working:

  • Keep your office and desk organized to minimize distractions and stress
  • Keep your computer desktop and files organized
  • Sit with good posture (this promotes clarity and focus)
  • Pre-plan what activities you are going to work on (i.e. blog post, article writing, etc) before you start

The Formula For Success in MLM Your First Year

Mike Klingler once taught me one of the most insightful things I've ever heard about what successful people do.

He taught me:

Consistent Training + Consistent Action = Massive Predictable Results

You see, there are alot of smart mlm business owners out there trying to make a better life for themselves. Alot of them are taking loads of action but engaging in very littletraining.

This leads to frustration.

On the other hand, you have network marketers that take very little action and overwhelm themselves with training. This leads to nothing.

There has to be a consistent balance of TRAINING + ACTION.

Keep this in mind your first year in network marketing. Develop the habit of consistently learning all you can about business and continuously taking action day after day.

Your First Year In Network Marketing: Putting it All Together

Now that you know the formula for success your first year network marketing and beyond, you can leverage patience while you apply it. You can better manage your life, family, and day job while building the business of your dreams. Working on yourself is one of the main keys to success because you are your greatest tool.

I've always felt it's important to start where you're at with any endeavor. We all have things that get in our way when it comes to success...Instead of letting those objections stop you from moving forward, use them as a catalyst to propel you to a better and more advanced person.
