MLM Recruiting Secrets: How To Identify The Perfect Recruit
Being good at MLM Recruiting is a skill many of us would LOVE to perfect. Many Network Marketers face challenges related to recruiting not only distributors in general, but the right kinds of distributors.
Smart business owners (that's you!) recognize that recruiting sharp, ethical, hard-working people into your network marketing opportunity is the ultimate strategy for long-term success.
In order to become a master at MLM recruiting, it's important to get clear on a few things. Mainly, who you are recruiting (or wanting to recruit) and what their needs and desires are.
Get Clear on Who You Want to Recruit
In order to determine who you want in your business, you must start from the beginning and research your "target market."
You may have heard this term before.
But what does "target market" mean and what does it have to do with MLM Recruiting?
Wiktionary.org defines a target market" as:
"A group of people whose needs and preferences match the product range of a company and to whom those products are marketed."
That's a pretty darn good definition in my opinion.
Where to Begin the MLM Recruiting Process
It seems so simple that we start the recruiting process by researching and finding the people who already need and want our product.
In our case, the product is a business model that provides a better way of life: an escape from corporate hell, more time with our families, and more money for us to do what we love.
In fact, with a product like that, you'd think our target market would be the entire planet!!
What we don't realize is, although the majority of the people out there want this type of a lifestyle, less than 10% actually believe they can achieve it. Out of that 10%, there's maybe... 1% of people willing to take action toward it.
So, rather than wasting our time trying to convince anyone and everyone about how great our stuff is, it's best we stick to recruiting those that are (a) already sold on this type of a business model, and (b) willing to take action towards it.
This is a complete 180 compared to MLM recruiting training methods of the past (i.e. approaching people at the grocery store or bank, passing out business cards, etc).
Because of this, it may take awhile for this concept to REALLY "sink in"(I know it did for me). Once it does, however, you'll see how revolutionary it really is.
What Types of Prospects Should You Recruit
Let's go over what types of people would be good prospects to recruit.
#1. People interested in starting a home based-business
This is a good place to start in order to acheive mlm recruiting success. However, the home-based-business industry is very broad (not to mention saturated and highly competitive). A "Home-Based-Business" can be ALOT of different things.
For example, there are countless ways to start and run a home business. Just do a search on Google and you'll see what I'm talking about. The search results will return everything from Ebay power-selling to getting paid to take surveys online.
We can do better than this...
#2. People researching multi-level-marketing companies.
Recruiting from this group is much smarter than going after the entire home business arena.
These people may or may not already be sold on the network marketing business model. They are a good prospect but not ideal and the reason is you may have to first sell them on the "idea" of network marketing (if they're still in research mode).
You'll also have to sell them on why they should work with YOU and your opportunity.
We can do EVEN better...
#3. People in Network Marketing
Now we're getting somewhere...
These people know they need a network marketing business and are already sold on the business model (residual income, helping people, etc).
Network marketing legend Ann Seig said this in one of her newsletters. She writes:
"When it comes to marketing, the most profitable habit you can acquire is having an obsession with finding groups of people who have proven they are starving for the kind of offer you're selling."
-Ann Seig
Depending on your personality type, you may not feel comfortable recruiting people into your dowline that are already in a business. That's ok. Just make sure to target a group of people who are VERY likely to be interested in what you have to offer.
If you use the knowledge you've gained here today, you should have a clear plan on who you want to recruit into your mlm and why you want to recruit them.
You'll realize the important of researching your "target market" so you can identify with them and help them solve their problems.
