How Network Marketing Affiliates Are Fueling the New Model of MLM Business

Network Marketing affiliates are playing a big part in the evolution of MLM Business to a "smarter" model; the model of attraction marketing.

Many savvy Network Marketers are using affiliate programs to generate more income and leads for their MLM business.

Unfortunately, not everyone knows how or why they should use affiliate marketing with their existing marketing model. You may have even heard of the term, "affiliate marketing," but are unsure of what it means and how it differs from what you're already doing.

I hope to provide a better explanation of how affiliate marketing applies to Network Marketing and how you can benefit from it.

The Difference Between Affliate and Network Marketing

Affiliate Marketing and Network Marketing are similar in many ways. With affiliate marketing, the parent company pays a certain percentage to an individual or company who refers the customer to the product. When the referral buys from the parent company, a commision is paid to the referring company or individual. The sale is tracked by a link assigned to the referee.

Unlike Network Marketing, most affiliate companies do no compensate you for building a team or downline. There are cases where you can be paid up to two levels. Your main compensation, however, comes by referring new customers. Some affiliate companies will also pay you an ongoing commission if the referred customer purchases a monthly continuity program.

With affiliate marketing, you don't need to actually sell the product. You simply refer the prospect to the affiliates' web page and it's up to the product owner to sell, service, and support the product.

Below is a simple illustration from Wikipedia.com showing the affiliate marketing model.

Why Some Network Marketing Affiiates Are Leaving Network Marketing Altogether

With affiliate marketing being as lucrative as it is, it's no wonder so many Network Marketing affiliates are making the switch to full-time affiliate marketing. Focusing on the promotion of MLM affiliate programs definately has it's advantages over Network Marketing.

For example: Being an affiliate doesn't require that you use the phone for any of your sales. This is especially good for people who are introverted or dread using the phone. Affiliate marketing is a way for Network Marketing affiliates to generate additional income without having to talk to anybody.

The problem is, if you're not willing to talk to anybody or connect one-on-one, you'll likely miss out on the types of Network Marketing fortunes you've always dreamed about. People are still starving for one-on-one communication from true leaders in the industry. Assuming you can't meet with people in person, the phone is the next best thing Network Marketing affiliates have available to ensure they close the sale.

Exclusive Affiliate or Network Marketing Affliate?

You may be asking yourself if it's possible to generate affiliate income 24 hours day/7 days a week without talking to anyone or using the phone at all, why even bother with traditional Network Marketing (i.e. calling leads, sponsoring distributors, conference calls, etc)? Why not just become an exclusive Network Marketing affiliate?

I have asked myself the same question...

What you do with your mlm business is completely up to you. However, I feel like the smartest MLM affiliates leave themselves as many income options as possible. Sure, affiliate marketing is fantastic for short-term, up-front income. However, you have the foresight to look a few years down the road, you can see how building a downline would really solidify your residual income streams. Network Marketing always has been and always will be about helping people succeed by building their own business.

One other thing...

Network Marketing affiliates can make an affiliate commision and generate a lead at the same time. It doesn't seem wise to waste perfectly good pre qualified mlm leads who are most likely very interested in building their business (maybe even with you as their sponsor). Just like your mlm opportunity, affiliate marketing should be just one of your sources of revenue.

That being said, there are several people making a very comfortable living doing nothing but affiliate marketing with no desire or intention of sponsoring anyone into an mlm business.

Keep in mind, the more our society moves away from human connection, the more valuable it will become. The internet is already fairly saturated with affiliate products and programs. My prediction is, as time goes on people are going to crave human attention even more so than ever.
