Network Marketing Mistakes: Common Mistake #1- Aggressiveness
Network marketing mistakes have been made since the beginning of mlm business. Distributors have tried and tested nearly every method under the sun ranging from direct mail advertising to prospecting waitresses at the local Olive Garden. Some have been successful. Some haven't.
Nevertheless, we've seen enough trends come and go in the history of mlm recruitment to conclude that what once "worked" for some, won't work for all. Not only that, but the type of prospecting methods successful distributors once used, just aren't feasible nowadays given the shell game of marketing messages people are exposed to on a daily basis. The difficulty associated with network marketing is that the rules often change. You must always keep yourself up to date on the latest and greatest, what-works-now prospecting and sales methods. It's also helpful to know some of the more common network marketing mistakes so you can avoid them. Doing so increases your chances of sponsoring the "right" people (those that will end up becoming lifelong partners in business and sponsor others like crazy) dramatically. You'll avoid wasting precious time on outdated techniques that never produce any real results. Network Marketing Mistakes: Mistake #1 - Don't Be Too Aggressive
During my years in the sales industry, I've worked with some extremely talented and "smooth-talking" salesman. They had quite the unique ability to overcome people's objectives and persuade them to buy things right on the spot. Even when their leads had no interest at all, they somehow found a way to get them to buy.
Many people wonder if this manipulative tactic is effective with prospecting network marketing distributors into your business.
The answer is "yes" and "no."
Yes, because you'll definitely recruit LOTS of people into your organization. If you possess persuasive sales skills, you can get people to do just about anything you want using just your words alone. Words, whether spoken or written, have the ability to inspire, motivate, and persuade people to take action.
No, because even though you can convince someone into joining your organization, if they don't fully understand what they're getting themselves into, they'll likely not last long.
This applies specifically to people who don't know what they want. They can be persuaded to take action fairly easily. However, once their "emotional excitement" wears off they're going to experience "buyer's remorse."
"Buyers remorse" usually happens when someone commits to something they weren't quite ready to commit to. They end up changing their mind and back out of the decision made.
In order to avoid any long-term network marketing mistakes it's best to market to your potential mlm recruits over a period of time. Let them join on their terms.
Then, and only then, will they be completely motivated and ready. They'll be joining the business with a long-term viewpoint in mind.
